Fans mob Ana
Thousands gathered in downtown Belgrade to welcome Serbia’s best-ever tennis player, French Open champion Ana Ivanovic. They waved balloons with Ivanovic’s name and chanted “Ana, we love you” as she appeared on the balcony of the Belgrade City Hall.
The No. 1 on ATP list said the welcome ceremony in Belgrade was a “very special moment” and “something I will remember all my life.”
Dressed in an elegant white dress, Ivanovic served several tennis balls into the crowd.
After the celebration, Ivanovic met with Serbia’s President Boris Tadic.
Earlier at a news conference she said that her aim is to win Wimbledon. “There will be more pressure from now on, but I will also have greater motivation and self-confidence.”
