US Open - exit Ana stage left
A tearful Ana Ivanovic stalks off in despair after losing to French qualifier Julie Coin. It is more than 40 years since a number one seed has been bounced from the women’s U.S. Open in the second round but Coin ended that streak after stunning Ivanovic 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. It was Coin’s first grand slam at the somewhat elderly age of 25.
Coin is the 188th ranked women’s tennis player in the world. The critical moment was 40-0 in the fifth game when she held on to hold serve. After winning that game she moved up 3-2 and then rattled off ten straight points to bury Ivanovic.
